Nellie - July 2021 - Dog of the Month

Congratulations to Nellie, our July 2021 Dog of the Month!!

Nellie’s beginning is a mystery. All we know is she found herself in an unfortunate predicament in Laredo, Texas in October 2019. If it weren’t for the amazing volunteers with Big Dog Rescue Project who pulled her from the high kill shelter, she would never have been matched with her mom and dad in Portland. Nellie’s journey from Texas to Portland includes a flight with Pilots N Paws and another with Alaska Airlines.

Nellie is thought to be 3 ½-ish and is what we call lab-ish. She looks like a lab, but that is where the lab traits end. She doesn’t really fetch and she doesn’t welcome strangers with open arms. What she does is make her mom and dad smile! She is a goofy, cute, sensitive, smart, protective, fast, fun dog. She loves the dog park (and anywhere she goes in the truck). She loves the beach (and anywhere she can run at top speed). She loves the neighborhood kids (or anything that will chase her). And most importantly, she loves No Bonz About It (and we love the hangover she gets from going).

Nellie is very proud to be selected July Dog of the Month, especially since both her mom and dad’s birthdays are in July!

Stella Blue - June 2021 - Dog of the Month

Congratulations to Stella Blue, our June 2021 Dog of the Month!!

Stella Blue came into her dad’s life as a brand new 8-week old puppy. Her dad got her from a farm that had a litter of Labradoodle puppies and wanted to find a good home for them. He met Stella’s mom and dad and both were amazing dogs, so he knew Stella Blue would also be amazing! She is a super laid-back pup. She loves snuggles and she loves treats! She is happy laying on her dad’s feet as much as she is happy on long hikes. She is always up for whatever her dad wants to do. Stella is the most loving dog her dad has ever met! And her face is so expressive that sometimes her dad just expects her to start talking to him in English. He’s still waiting for some words…

Stella’s dad says, “And most of all she absolutely LOVES NO BONZ!!! It is hard to contain her once she knows she is going!! Thank you guys so much for being awesome!!”

We are super grateful and happy to have Stella Blue with us!!

Penny - May 2021 - Dog of the Month

Congratulations to Penny, our May Dog of the Month!

Penny’s parents adopted her through the Rez Dog Rescue program when they were living in Colorado. They rescued her pregnant mom near New Mexico and she and her six siblings were born in Aspen! They brought her home at 8 weeks. It's a great month for Penny to be Dog of the Month, since May is her adoption month! She's been with her parents for six years this month!

According to a DNA test, Penny is mostly Australian Cattle Dog with some Beagle and Brittany Spaniel. She has a big personality. She is very smart, curious, and loves to learn and explore. She's also a bit of a rascal and is good at outsmarting her parents to get what she wants from them. One parent commented: “For example, a few years ago, she was upset that I was sitting in her favorite chair. She started playing tug with the drapes and wasn't listening when I asked her to stop. So I stood up to go over to Penny and the minute I left the chair Penny ran and jumped in it. That's our Penny!”

Penny also has a goofy sense of humor and loves to make people laugh! “…And she has a lot of energy, so we really appreciate you all at No Bonz for helping us tire her out!.”

Penny is a tremendous joy to us and we’re grateful to have her in the pack!!

Olive - April 2021 - Dog of the Month

Congratulations to Olive, our April 2021 Dog of the Month!!

Olive was adopted from the Oregon Humane society by way of Georgia through the Second Chance Program in May of 2019. She was an 8 week old ball of fur with needle sharp teeth. Described as a lab mix, her mom had to find out what the mix was. As it turns out, Olive is zero lab! Instead, she is actually Staffordshire Terrier/Boston Terrier/Miniature Schnauzer/Longhaired Dachshund. Interesting mix for certain! But, what a pretty cool mix!

Olive LOVES squirrels, and thinks she can learn to climb trees, she can get one. She loves to chew on sticks - sometimes more like logs or entire branches if she can get them. Sleeping is another of her favorite past times. With her very short coat and bald underbelly, she gets chilly. Since she refuses to wear a sweater or coat, she likes to wrap herself in blankets or get AS CLOSE to the fake fireplace as possible. Olive started going to No Bonz as soon as she was old enough. She loves her people there, and also her dog buddies, especially Hermionie.

We are so fortunate and grateful to have Olive in our pack! We love her very much!
