Robbie - January 2021 - Dog of the Month

Congratulations to Robbie, our January Dog of the Month!!

“Robbie Dog is a one-year-old Shepard Mix rescue dog from Houston,” his parents say. “We were lucky to get him through an awesome organization called Three Little Pitties. This group transports rescue dogs to the Pacific Northwest so that they won't end up in the high-kill shelters in the Houston area. We were told that Robbie would be 30-40 lbs, but at last count, he is more than 65 lbs!! Of course, we still love him to bits, even though he's waaaay bigger than we were planning on!”

“Robbie is very loving and eager to please (except for when he chases squirrels, then all bets are off!). He will play with any and all dogs. He's a little shy around new humans, but once he has a chance to sniff them and observe them for a few minutes, then he'll come over for pets.”

“Funny things about Robbie: He loves to chew up toilet paper rolls (he averages 3-4 destroyed rolls per week). / He isn't very food motivated, but he can chew up a colossal doggy bone in less than a day. / Even though we swore that we wouldn't let him sleep on our bed, he charmed us so much that he now sleeps right by our feet every night.”

We love having Robbie with us at No Bonz! Thanks for letting him join the pack!

Donna - December 2020- Dog of the Month

Congratulations to Donna, our 2020 Dog of the Month!!

Donna’s parents adopted her from Project Pooch in 2014. She was 1 year old at the time and was surrendered by her previous owner. Project Pooch does not always take owner surrenders but Donna's veterinarian at the time fell in love with her and recommended her for Project Pooch's program. Donna’s parents had an appointment to meet a different dog and the program staff decided to introduce them to Donna with the warning of "she might be scared of you at first, she is really afraid of men.” Donna came running into the room and jumped right into the lap of her now dad! Here parents say: “That sealed the deal - - Donna was ours forever!” Donna is an incredibly sweet dog who LOVES to be around other pups and snuggled up with humans. She plays really hard...and loud...but she is serious about her affection towards people. She is an amazing foster sister for One Tail at a Time PDX and met her best friend Freddie through the program. Her and Freddie see each other all the time - including on Wednesdays at No Bonz. “Her dream day would be one on the beach, chasing the ball with her buddies, followed by a bully stick and couch snuggles to round out the evening!,” says her mom. “To know Donna is to love Donna (unless you are a man with a beard who she does not know - than she will take a bit to warm up) and we cannot imagine our lives without her and her very aggressive kisses. Thank you No Bonz for taking such good care of our girl!”

Ruby - November 2020 - Dog of the Month

Congratulations to Ruby, our November 2020 Dog of the Month!!

Ruby’s parents got Ruby as a puppy after their other corgi passed away. Ruby came from Corgis of Narnia, near Rainier Oregon - they have LOTS of Corgis! The parents’ daughter, Emma, picked Ruby out of a litter of 8 when Ruby was only 2 weeks old. Emma made the right choice.

Ruby is very sweet and loves people. She is also very quiet - she rarely barks. She does NOT like the cats that lay in her yard and barks at them when they tease her. She also likes to talk to the crows that come eat peanuts in morning. She loves to go to the beach to run and make new friends. However she does not like the surf to touch her. She likes to go visit near the family horses and play with her friend Casper there, but she does not like the horses. She does like to chase the deer the come into the horse pastures.

Ruby enjoys looking out the living room window - she is the neighborhood watcher. She hangs over the back of the couch and watches the kids, dogs and adults. She does not like to ride in the car - even though she has a car seat that lets her look out the window.

Ruby loves to go on walks to meet new dogs and people - something her parents try to do every day. She tolerates baths, but is terrified of a blow dryer - so baths are not frequent. She loves to sleep with her people, so long as they don't touch her while she is sleeping.

We love having Ruby with us at No Bonz! Her packmates feel the same!

Dusty - October 2020 Dog of the Month

Congratulations, Dusty, our October 2020 Dog of the Month!

Dusty is very excited to be Dog of the Month! He is hoping it comes with treats :-D

Dusty is a rescue who was found abandoned in the Southern California desert by the very awesome folks at Lead and Love Dog Rescue in Central Oregon.

His parents thought he was a lab mix but they had him DNA tested and he’s over 8 kinds of dogs, but not a lab!  They think his DNA Husky is most dominant.

He loves hiking, and he’s a very good rock climber, too.  His other favorite thing is meal time.  He leaps in the air every time! He has a diverse palate and is a big fan of cucumber, red bell pepper, and orange segments, in addition to bacon :). If he thinks a treat is coming he’ll start doing all of his tricks in a row (laying down, shaking, rolling over).

He has a quirky sometimes serious personality and is very sweet, gentle, and very self-sufficient.  He likes to know where his humans are, but then he likes to be in his own spot.  He is the best! We love Dusty and are very excited to have him at daycare with us!!
