Mali - June 2022 - Dog of the Month

Congratulations to Mali, our June 2022 Dog of the Month!!

Mali was brought home over the President’s Day holiday in 2017 - her owners were so excited to look for her that they arrived at the breeder before their appointment and jumped ahead in line. She was the smallest of a litter of 13 and it was sort of love at first sight. Mali loves to play ball and take dips in mud puddles — thankfully she steps right into the tub for a shampoo. Most days after her morning play and walk you can find her napping in her favorite chair or looking out the window to give the cat and squirrel report. Like any Lab she loves food, but most of all she likes broccoli and cauliflower stems. Her parents love her easy-going nature. She is happy to share her ball and fur (which is everywhere)!

We are so happy to have Mali with us at No Bonz!!

Benny - May 2022 - Dog of the Month

Congratulations to Benny, our May 2022 Dog of the Month!

After losing their previous rescue to cancer, Benny’s parents searched for quite sometime for another rescue to join their family. They found Benny through a rescue based in Texas. Benny was just a few hours away from being euthanized before they sponsored him and set up transportation from there to Olympia, Washington. They picked him up on March 20th of last year and brought him to his forever home here. He loves his feline brother, Jordy, who tolerates him with that cat like attitude. He would love to make friends with his feline sister, but she is old (19yrs old) and set in her ways.

Benny loves smaller dogs and kids, especially his parents’ grandson. He has a very laid back personality, for the most part, but gets so excited to go anywhere. He loves No Bonz. Benny’s parents say that their favorite thing about him is how he likes to sneak things from them and hide things outside somewhere. If it’s missing, it’s in his hiding spot… or buried somewhere. And he looooooves pistachios. Benny will always tell his parents “sharing is caring.” He definitely shares his love and kisses.

Congratulations, Benny! We are super happy to have you in the pack!

Marty - April 2022 - Dog of the Month

Congratulations to Marty, our April 2022 Dog of the Month!

Like many furry friends these days, Marty joined his human family in April 2020, just after the Coronavirus pandemic took hold. He is an Alaskan Klee Kai, from Washington State. Although Klee Kai is an officially registered dog breed, it is a pretty recently registered one (a mix of Siberian Husky and Schipperke), so his mom tells everyone who asks that he is a mini-husky. He attracts a lot of attention on walks because he looks just like a little fox. Luckily, Marty loves attention. He thinks he is "a people" - and loves pets and attention from everyone. He has the lungs of a husky though - he howls and sings and barks and whines and talks all day long, as his buddies at No Bonz will attest. He likes to sing along to songs on the radio and squeals when he is excited. Marty loves to play with other dogs, and always gives 100% - as such, daycare days are his favorite. When his mom tells him in the morning that they are going to play with the doggies, his bushy tail starts wagging like crazy. It doesn't hurt that he also loves to go for drives in the car. Daycare = attention from humans + drive in the car + dogs to play with, so it's truly his dream. He has traveled all over the country in his short life - his favorite destinations have been Sonoma, CA, and Montana. His least favorite destination was Maryland, where he got in a fight with a snake who hurt Marty's eye - but you should have seen the snake when Marty got through with him :)

We love having Marty with us at No Bonz!

Lucky - March 2022 - Dog of the Month

Congratulations to Lucky, our March 2022 Dog of the Month!

Driving home from a family member’s funeral in Washington, Lucky’s dad saw a sign for puppies. His daughters had been asking for a dog for months and their mom finally relented. Maybe it was out of sadness or sentimentality but when Lucky’s mom saw him, she immediately said, “That’s our dog!” Lucky was named after his great grandfather human, whose nickname was Lucky, because his parents assumed after having three daughters they would not have a son. So Lucky would have to work.

Lucky’s parents were right! They share: “Lucky is just right for our family. He is a Cocker Spaniel/ Cavalier King Charles mix. He is now three years old. He is sweet and sensitive, but with a definite opinion. He is not too big but not too small. He is smart enough to hold his own in our pack, but doesn’t cause mischief. He loves to run on the beach or through the forest as much as curling up in bed with my daughters or hanging out during movie night. He gets along with nearly everybody and nearly all dogs, except pugs, they freak him out.”

One thing is for certain, we LOVE having Lucky with us at No Bonz!
